Passenger Terms
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms apply when you book a bus seat through PathYatra. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions. We have kept them short and in plain language, because a document nobody reads protects nobody.
1. Who you are travelling with
PathYatra is a booking platform, operated by PathYatra, currently operated by its founders Abhinav Mandal and Abhishek Mandal. The bus is run by an independent operator with their own permit, vehicle and staff. Your journey contract is with that operator, and their name is shown to you before you pay.
That does not mean we disappear if something goes wrong. We hold the booking record and the trip data, we handle refunds, and we run a grievance process you can use — see section 10.
2. Booking a ticket
- You must be 18 or over to book. You may book for a minor travelling with you, and you stay responsible for that booking.
- Give the correct name, age and gender for each passenger. Some operators and some state rules require identification to match the ticket.
- Give a contact number you will actually answer on the day. Trip updates and boarding-point changes go there.
- A booking is confirmed only when payment succeeds and you receive a ticket.
3. What you pay
The fare is set by the operator. PathYatra adds a platform charge for the booking service, shown as a separate line before you pay — never added silently afterwards. The total you see at checkout is the total you are charged.
You should not be asked for any extra money on board for a seat you have already paid for. If you are, report it — see section 10.
4. Boarding
- Reach the boarding point at least 15 minutes before departure. Buses do not always wait.
- Carry your ticket, in the app or as a message, and photo identification.
- Boarding points can change for road or traffic reasons. If that happens you will be notified on your registered number.
5. Live tracking
While your trip is running you can see where the bus is. What you see is the position of the vehicle — not a record of any staff member's personal movements. Tracking stops when the trip ends. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
6. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel from your bookings screen, and the exact refund amount is shown to you before you confirm. If the operator cancels, the bus does not arrive, or the service is withdrawn, you get a full refund with no deduction. Full rules — including delays, no-shows and failed payments — are in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
7. Luggage
Carry a reasonable amount of luggage. Operators may limit or charge for excess, and will say so. Keep valuables, documents and medicines with you rather than in the hold. Neither the operator nor PathYatra can accept responsibility for cash, jewellery or electronics left unattended.
Do not carry anything illegal, flammable, explosive or dangerous. Doing so can mean being refused travel without a refund, and reported.
8. Conduct on board
- No smoking, alcohol or drugs on the bus.
- Behave respectfully towards other passengers and staff. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
- Follow safety instructions, including seat belts where fitted.
- Do not damage the vehicle or interfere with the driver.
A passenger may be refused travel or asked to leave for serious misconduct. If you are the one being harassed or made unsafe, tell the crew and tell us — see the Safety Policy for how we handle it.
9. Delays and things outside anyone's control
Buses run on public roads. Traffic, weather, breakdowns, road closures, protests and police action can delay or divert a service, and neither the operator nor PathYatra can guarantee arrival times. We will keep you informed with what we know.
Where a delay or cancellation is the operator's fault rather than genuinely outside their control, the refund rules in section 3 of the Refund & Cancellation Policy apply.
10. If something goes wrong
Contact us at support@pathyatra.com or +91 91200 53901 with your booking reference. If you are not satisfied with the answer, escalate through Grievance Redressal, which sets out who is responsible and the time within which you will get a reply.
Nothing in these terms affects your rights under Indian consumer protection law, including your right to approach a consumer forum.
11. Your personal data
We collect only what is needed to issue your ticket, run the trip and support you afterwards. The operator sees what they need to carry you, and nothing more. You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted — see the Privacy Policy and Data Deletion.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your journey is the one in force when you booked.
